Entrepreneurship
Starting with his ramyadly.com website in 2012, Ramy Adly returned in 2025 to completely reinvent the School of Oud Online — building a university-style program with nine progressive levels. This is the most premium, high-quality oud curriculum in the world, produced with Emmy Award winners, filmed by CNN producers, and executed by top professionals in every aspect to deliver unmatched production standards.
The program, offered in both Arabic and English, provides 24 hours of training per level across four years in Arabic and four years in English. Graduates emerge as the finest oud players — ready to represent their culture and pursue careers in performance or teaching.
Ramy created the first complete sheet music library for the entire oud curriculum — 1,200 pages of exercises and songs for an instrument that dates back to 3000 BC, compositions that were previously considered impossible to notate. Alongside this, he designed the full curriculum framework.
The School of Oud’s first official graduate, Ethan Walkman, stands as proof of its success. The student body includes learners from Germany, Asia, Italy, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Singapore, and beyond. The faculty includes both distinguished alumni and world-class musicians.
Ramy also invited Naseer Shamma to contribute his exceptional expertise, and filmed in Egypt with leading percussionists, vocalists, and maqam specialists to cover every dimension of the oud’s artistry. Inspired in part by the Harvard Business School Online model, he launched the world’s first certificate program for the oud instrument, setting a new global standard for oud education.

In 2018, Egyptian-American musician and entrepreneur Ramy Adly envisioned creating a digital mall — a single online platform where musicians from all walks of life could showcase, sell, and monetize their talents in new and innovative ways. At a time when Spotify was rapidly expanding, Ramy saw no real opportunity in simply creating an “Arabic Spotify” for the Arab world. Instead, he identified a deeper problem in the Web 2.0 era — before Web 3.0 emerged — where platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and even monetized services such as Spotify failed to give musicians a comprehensive space to truly express and profit from their craft.
From his deep understanding of the music industry, Ramy realized that musicians possess many valuable skills that could be monetized — from teaching and performing, to licensing their music, recording from home, and creating custom compositions for the public.
Determined to solve this, Ramy developed a 400-page business plan and hired one of the best web application developers available, assembling a team of experts in design and technology. Together, they built one of the most advanced platforms for musicians — a space to present their work, set prices, educate, sell, get paid, communicate, and analyze their progress. Using a unique “spider-web” technology structure, the platform became the largest of its kind, designed to connect musicians to opportunities on a global scale.
By 2020, as NFTs began to rise, Ramy expanded the platform with a new division on the Ethereum blockchain, giving musicians access to cutting-edge tools for the new era of digital ownership. This upgrade allowed artists to get paid in cryptocurrency and leverage blockchain technology to enhance the value of their work.
The company was entirely self-funded, and sustaining such a large-scale vision proved challenging for Ramy to manage alone. Ultimately, he decided to step back from day-to-day operations, allowing the platform to continue its journey online while he focused his energy on creating a new venture — one aimed at helping the world become a better place.
In Ramy’s vision, e-commerce must be more than ordinary — it must be innovative to create true value. To stand out, a product needs to be unique, and his journey began with the creation of the iOud in 2018 — a MIDI oud that allows musicians and oud players to connect their instrument directly to a computer.
Recognizing the oud’s rarity and specialty, Ramy focused his market research on precision rather than breadth. He offered handcrafted ouds made in the United States, Turkey, Egypt, and Sudan, all at fair and accessible prices. With a strong background in economics, he designed a multi-tier pricing model so clients of all budgets could own an oud and fulfill their dream.
Ramy invested hundreds of pages of planning into this project, hiring copywriters, designers, and marketers to bring his vision to life. Supported in part by the Utah Governor Economic Office, he built a high-quality e-commerce platform dedicated entirely to the oud. He brought in professional photographers and videographers to capture each instrument’s beauty, carefully selecting the finest ouds and presenting them with world-class visuals.

2022
In 2022, Ramy started a Utah-based consulting company after his success with The Oud Instrument achievement. The company discovers early-stage needs and problems, and solves them in innovative ways — linking the wisdom of the ancient world with today’s technology and AI.
Ramy sees the future like a visionary entrepreneur, building a multi-million dollar company in America focused on the best investment strategies, fund deployment, burn rates, and market planning, always aiming for the highest ROI and MOIC by leveraging and managing free cash flow (FCF).
He has led teams across several divisions in his companies — from blockchain developers, web app developers, and marketing strategists, to video editors, executives, and more. With over 10 years of experience as an entrepreneur, his analytical skills with numbers are as sharp as his craft as an oud virtuoso.
Johns Hopkins University invited him to teach young musicians how to earn a living after graduation, and he also teaches at the University of Utah, sharing the beauty of Middle Eastern culture through a program he personally created.
