Bringing the Oud to the World Stage
The oud is one of the oldest string instruments in history, dating back to the days of King David and linked to the lyres of Mesopotamia. It later gave birth to Europe’s lute and inspired instruments like the guitar, sitar, and gusli. Yet, despite its profound legacy, the oud has been absent from
the chamber music tradition that has long celebrated the violin, cello, and guitar.
Ramy Adly takes responsibility for reintroducing this voice of centuries into
the chamber world—through mastery, artistry, and dedication. His Chamber Soloist Music Program is not about novelty, but about artistry at the highest level. Ramy fills chamber halls with his own compositions and interpretations that stand shoulder to shoulder with masters: Paco de Lucía on guitar, Joshua Bell on violin, and Yo-Yo Ma on cello.

Arab Capriccio — Turina
Asturias — Isaac Albéniz (adapted on the oud)
The Moon Feeds — Naseer Shamma
Mirage — Ramy Adly
Schindler’s List — John Williams
Paganini’s 24 Caprices (selected)
Each piece is reimagined through the oud, not to simply imitate but to add a depth of spirit, history, and sound unique to this instrument. The oud’s timbre turns well-known works into new experiences, offering audiences a warm, transformative chamber atmosphere.
